Anesthetic management using an i-gelTM supraglottic airway for a pediatric patient with Hunter syndrome-a case report

چکیده
Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are a group of inherited, metabolic disorders caused by a lack of lysosomal enzymes. Among the various types of MPS, Hunter syndrome (MPS type II) is a rare X-linked disorder in which patients lack the lysosomal enzyme iduronate-2-sulfatase (IDS), which leads to the accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (CAGs). This can be a great concern to the anesthesiologist due to the involvement of several regions related to airway management. Here, we report a case of successful anesthetic management using a size 2 i-gelTM supraglottic airway in a 5-year-old child with non-suppurative otitis media and middle ear effusion who arrived at our operating room for myringotomy with ventilation tube insertion.

Successful tracheal intubation using fiberoptic bronchoscope via an I-gel™ supraglottic airway in a pediatric patient with Goldenhar syndrome -A case report-
The I-gel™ is a single-use supraglottic airway device introduced in 2007 which features a non-inflatable cuff and allows passage of a tracheal tube owing to its large diameter and short length of the airway tube. In this case, the authors experienced a difficult airway management on a 4-year-old boy with underlying Goldenhar syndrome who underwent a tonsillectomy. Intubation using a laryngoscop...

We present the anesthetic management of an infant with Desbuquois syndrome (a rare form of micromelic dwarfism) with a possible difficult airway. The anesthetic implications of this syndrome are presented. The airway was managed with a new supraglottic device - the CobraPLA. Although intubation through this device was not possible in this instance, CobraPLA provided a satisfactory supraglottic ...

Introduction:Tapia’s syndrome is a rare complication of recurrent laryngeal and hypoglossal nerve paralysis due to anesthetic airway mismanagement or malpositioning of the patient’s head during surgery. Case Report:Here we present a case of Tapia's syndrome in a 22-year-old male after corrective jaw surgery under general anesthesia, with a long period of recovery, related to airway management p...
متن کاملCase Report of an open Neck Procedure Complication Associated with Laryngeal Mask Airway Use
Introduction: The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is a safe method to establish airway control during general anaesthesia. In otolaryngology surgery, the use of a LMA is well established in ear surgery; however, the use of a LMA during open neck procedures remains controversial. We report a case in which the pharyngeal distortion by the LMA cuff resulted in an iatrogenic complication. Case Report...
